On the topic of going green I would like to discuss recycling. Recycling is the process of taking used materials into new products in order to prevent waste of potentially useful materials. Recycling is something that is essential to our earth. It is one of the easiest tasks that can help change our world forever. Everyone should recycle because it is one of the first steps to making our world a better place. Recycling does a lot for our economy maybe even more than a lot of people thought it does.
Recycling cuts back on global warming. Global warming is a serious threat and is starting to affect our economy in the worst way. By recycling we can help lessen the impact of global warming. One example is if we paper save trees. If we recycle a ton of paper we can save up to around 15 trees. Each of these trees can extract about 250 pounds worth of carbon dioxide from the air in a year’s time.
Recycling also reduces air pollution. If we as a community can recycle paper, metal and plastic products will make less of a demand for these products in factories. Factories would be able to re-use all of these materials instead of making new ones. If we are able to do this it will save a ton of pollution that is dispersed into our air every day. Recycling will also dispose of many materials that produce their own pollution. Recycling creates jobs. A lot of people are scared and worried about jobs and if they’re able to find one due to the economy. Recycling creates jobs, whether it is manufacturing, processing, collection or invention. Recycling is a growth industry and it earns billions upon billions of dollars every day. Recycling is going to become more important each day as populations begin to grow and technology begins to change.
These are some of the many reasons I believe that people need to recycle more. There is tons of information about recycling one website in particular is http://earth911.com/ and it can help you find places near your town to recycle.

  1. I completely agree with what Davon is saying. Recycling is such a simple and effective way to go green and an essential thing to do to save our environment. Reusing materials such as paper and plastic is important as well. When we reuse materials we are saving essential parts of our environment, such as trees. Recycling can be done by anyone anywhere. People should throw plastic into recycling bins instead of in garbage cans. People should also put paper in recycling bins instead of just throwing it in garbage cans. Everything possible should be done to allow people to recycle everywhere they are, that way everyone has the opportunity to recycle and more people can recycle. If more recycling bins are placed around public places, such as malls or parks, more people would be given the chance to make our world a cleaner and less polluted place.

  3. agree with both Davon & Bri, recycling is such a easy & effective way to help the planet. If we reuse materials such as plastic from used water bottles we are helping the enviorment - because rather than allowing used plastic to sit in landfuls we can just reuse the bottles to make new water bottles, and other plastic items. It is such a easy concept, and it makes it hard to beleive that there are so many people out there who do not recycle, they do not realize the harm they are doing to the planet. But it is important for people to recycle, and it is never too late for someone to start - it can be done by anyone. It may take a little more effort than just throwing items in the regular garbage, but the little extra effort goes a long way in the end. -Alyssa

  4. I agree with everyone, but then again everything that everyone has been saying seems to sum it all up. Recycling allows used materials to be reused again with different products of the same quality. Recycling is an easy way to keep go green because it requires a lot less consumption of non-renewable resources, such as trees. trees are pretty, trees are our friends, some people hug trees. we write papers for mr. wilson's class and print them out on the products of trees. See? they are useful but when we use too much of these non-renewable resources, we won't be able to get them back. As davon said, global warming is also reflected in recycling insofar that if we dont recycle, more products will be produced, thus causing more pollution, thus increasing global warming and ozone destruction

  5. I agree with everything that has been said here. Recycling is a great thing. Recycling is easy to do, and it can make a very big difference in pollution which in turn helps with global warming. However, Recycling is often overlooked and not performed. At my high school, Paramus Catholic High School we don't recycle, although the administration claims we do. All you will ever see in a cafeteria is a garbage can, and there is no recycling. They claim that the garbage men sort through the trash and filter the recyclables from the garbage. I don't think this is done though. There have been efforts to start recycling clubs in the past, but all of them have been shot down. The examples at my school is one of many examples where recycling is overlooked and nothing gets done. I think that people need to be more proactive with recycling.
